Tigran Hamasyan is one of my favorite musicians. Funny enough, we’re the same age and he doing the things that he does, in the way that he does, serves as an inspiration for me. Armenian folklore melodies driven, rhythmic patterns inspired from konnakol or from Meshuggah all these mixed with electronic flavor makes him quite a unique figure in the jazz fusion realm. But I also appreciate his way of trying to find new territories. For instance, “Sing me a song when you will be at a place where everything is a bliss” it just teared me apart when I first listened to it. So I decided to try doing a duduk version myself. Here it is.
